Max failed his hearing test again

Never thought I’d be so happy to find out that my son can’t hear. Why you might ask? Well, this means that there is a possibility that the reason he isn’t babbling correctly is because he can’t hear!

Turns out, he has fluid in both of his ears. So despite him passing previous tests, now both of his ears have fluid and thus problems. Poor baby. Who knows how long this has been going on.

So now the next steps are to get him in to an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist as soon as possible. Hopefully, it can be fixed by ear tubes or something else relatively easy.

I’m quite hopeful that this is the beginning of Max’s path to being able to speak.

Hi there! I happened to bump into your blog when I was looking for a good stuffed bell peppers recipe. I was interested in your title, so I decided to take a look.

I am glad that the therapy is working for your son!!! I hope it continues to work. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, I wanted to mention that my husband had a hard time talking when he was young and found out when he was about 3 what the problem was. I think it was fluid in the ears, but they did put tubes in and after that it became so much better. He did need to go to speech therapy and such, but I wouldn’t have known he had to go through all that unless he told me! If you need a recommendation, my mother-in-law might have a suggestion possibly (but I’m not sure since it’s been over 20 years…). Anyway, thanks for your blog posts and I wish the best for you!

P.S. I think those “random” occurrences were from God, helping you and your son. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to read AND comment.

I know this blog has become more personal over the past few months. I think I’m going to set up a separate blog for being a mother of a special needs child. I do plan on getting back to more recipes and crafts and such.

My daughter had to have a hearing test in the hospital when she was born, and because she failed it we also had to get her another hearing test in Ottawa a few weeks later. Luckily there was just fluid in her ears from the birthing process, and she passed the second test.
